EPCOT Rope Drop Plan: Best Ride Order for a Full Day
Follow this EPCOT rope drop plan to ride Guardians of the Galaxy early, choose the best next attractions, avoid long waits, and explore World Showcase without unnecessary walking.
Having a basic plan can help you make the most of your day at EPCOT. Arriving early and choosing the right ride order can save you time in line and help you avoid unnecessary walking.
This EPCOT rope drop plan is designed for Disney Resort guests using Early Entry. It prioritizes popular attractions early in the day while giving you two options for the rest of your morning: head into World Showcase or stay in the front part of EPCOT before exploring the pavilions.
My biggest piece of advice is do not leave Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind to the end of the day. Wait times soar around 5pm, and will remain very high until park closing.
Some definitions:
Rope Drop: Arriving at the park before it officially opens.
Early Entry: Guests staying at a Disney Resort or qualifying partner hotel can enter the park 30 minutes before other guests. You can get in ride lines before early entry officially begins.
EPCOT Rope Drop Plan
1. Before Early Entry
Arrive at EPCOT 20–45 minutes before Early Entry begins. This gives you time to get through security and enter the park before the morning rush.
This plan assumes you're entering through EPCOT's main entrance. If you're entering through the International Gateway, consider starting with Remy's Ratatouille Adventure, which is closer to that entrance.
From the main entrance, head toward Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and get in line.
2. Early Entry: Your First Ride
Ride Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind first. Make this a priority if it's a must-do attraction and you aren't planning to use a Lightning Lane Single Pass.
Now that you've got the most popular attraction done, grab a coffee at Connections Café if you'd like, then choose one of the two morning routes below.
3. Choose Your Morning Route
Choose based on your must-do attractions, current wait times, and how much walking you want to do.
Option A: Head into World Showcase early
Choose this route if Frozen Ever After or Remy's Ratatouille Adventure is a priority and you want to try to ride them before the wait gets longer. This option will likely require more walking throughout the day.
- Check the posted waits for Frozen Ever After in Norway and Remy's Ratatouille Adventure in France.
- Choose the one that makes the most sense based on its wait and your priorities.
- Continue exploring World Showcase in one direction, or head back toward the front of EPCOT to do more rides in the morning before the wait times get long.
Frozen and Remy's are not next to each other, so avoid crossing the lagoon repeatedly just to chase a slightly shorter wait.
Option B: Stay near the front of EPCOT
Choose this route if you'd rather get a lot of rides done in the morning and save the World Showcase for later. You can group attractions in World Celebration, World Nature, and World Discovery before heading around the lagoon.
Use these suggested wait times as a guide:
- Test Track: Prioritize it early if it's a must-do.
- Soarin' Across America: Aim for 45 minutes or less.
- Living with the Land: Aim for 25 minutes or less.
- The Seas with Nemo & Friends: Aim for 20 minutes or less. Leave time to explore the aquarium after the ride.
- Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana: Fit in the self-guided water trail when it works with your route.
- Spaceship Earth: Aim for 40 minutes or less.
This order is recommended to reduce walking, but make sure to check the My Disney Experience app and prioritize attractions with manageable waits that are close to where you are.
4. Afternoon: Explore World Showcase and Finish Rides
By midday, waits for popular attractions may be longer. Use the afternoon to enjoy lunch, explore the pavilions, and fit in attractions you skipped earlier.
- Stop for lunch. Choose a quick-service restaurant or a festival booth near the pavilion you're exploring.
- Explore World Showcase at your own pace. Browse shops, enjoy the scenery, and check out entertainment in the countries.
- Ride Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros in the Mexico pavilion if the wait is 20 minutes or less.
- Consider a pavilion film. Reflections of China and Canada Far and Wide can offer a break while you explore. You may need to stand during these shows.
- Finish any must-do attractions you missed. If you haven't ridden Frozen Ever After or Remy's Ratatouille Adventure, consider joining the line if the posted wait is 60 minutes or less.
You don't need to fit every attraction into one day. World Showcase is a big part of EPCOT, so leave time to enjoy the food, scenery, and details in each pavilion. Try to follow one direction around the lagoon rather than walking back and forth across the park.
5. Evening: Dinner and Nighttime Entertainment
Use the evening to finish any remaining priorities, have dinner, and decide whether you'd like to watch EPCOT's nighttime entertainment.
- Plan dinner around where you'll be. If you're booking a sit-down meal, make a reservation in advance and choose a location that fits your evening route.
- Check the entertainment schedule for your visit so you know when and where the nighttime show takes place.
- Find a viewing spot for the evening show. Depending on how busy the park is, 30-45 minutes will give you enough time to grab a snack, find a spot, and settle in.
Attractions at EPCOT often still have long wait times during the nighttime show. Use the app to decide whether it's worth heading to another ride.
Quick Wait-Time Guide
These are suggested targets for deciding when to fit in attractions, not rules you have to follow.
| Attraction | Suggested wait time |
|---|---|
| Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind | 90 minutes or less |
| Frozen Ever After | 60 minutes or less |
| Remy's Ratatouille Adventure | 60 minutes or less |
| Soarin' Across America | 45 minutes or less |
| Spaceship Earth | 40 minutes or less |
| Living with the Land | 25 minutes or less |
| The Seas with Nemo & Friends | 20 minutes or less |
| Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros | 20 minutes or less |
| Mission: SPACE | 20 minutes or less |
| Journey Into Imagination with Figment | 20 minutes or less |
If an attraction is a must-do, you may decide it's worth a longer wait. If it's not a priority, don't build your whole route around it.
How to Make This Plan Work for Your Group
Before your trip, choose your must-do attractions and decide whether you want to prioritize World Showcase early or save it for the afternoon. Then use the My Disney Experience app to adjust your route as waits change.
The most important thing is to group nearby attractions together. EPCOT covers a large area, and crossing the park repeatedly to save a few minutes in line can cost you more time than it saves.
Check the MouseDays Crowd Calendar to see how busy your date is expected to be. Use the MouseDays Park Planner to help choose which parks to visit on each day of your trip.
The short version: arrive early, prioritize popular rides, choose one morning route, avoid unnecessary backtracking, and stay flexible.
